Star-Spangled Sweets for a Fabulous Fourth

Just in case anyone around here hasn't quite caught on, the Fourth of July is my all-time favorite holiday.  I just love everything about it.  This, of course, includes the food.  I'm constantly collecting ideas for festive red, white, and blue recipes.  These are my favorites.

Most Fourth of July get togethers involve coolers of water, Coke, and beer, but sometimes you want something a little more elegant.  This red, white, and blue sangria ought to do the trick.

With the season's endless bounty of perfectly sweet fruit, no summer celebration would be complete without a homemade pie or two.  I absolutely adore these blackberry-blueberry, star-spangled apple, and bumbleberry pies.

All that homemade pie is going to need some homemade ice cream.  My favorites are bourbon-cherry ice cream, Oklahoma farm style vanilla, and fresh blueberry.

Of course, not everyone is a huge pie fan.  (Say what?)  With that in mind, I've got a few other recipes up my sleeve.  How about a super fun red, white, and blue velvet cupcake or a slice of double lemon tart

Here's wishing you a fantastic Fourth, my dear readers.  Enjoy these treats with friends, family, patriotism, and gratitude for our freedom.
